Hi,

I purchased a car on the Gumtree that was advertised as a 2013. After paying for it, I found that is was actually a 2011.

Is there anything I can do to get my money back under Australian Consumer Law?

Hi Brian,

You don't get the same protections under Australian Consumer Law with a private seller as you would with a dealer. But they are bound by common law contract requirements. In particular the seller can be liable for misrepresentations they have made about the vehicle if you relied on this information to make the decision to purchase.
