Hi,

Is the following scenario legal:

A company or person is chasing a debt and the debtor says they are going to use their father (or family member) as a lawyer, and therefore it will not cost them any money to fight paying the debt.

Therefore they will just ensure you spend more money trying to get your debt paid this than it is worth - but it will cost them nothing in doing this.

Is that legal please?

Many thanks.

If the family member is a lawyer, yes they can. The same is the case if a lawyer is self-representing.
