If there is a plea of guilt and no conviction is recorded for an assault charge, will the national police check see it?

As per s12 of penalties and sentences of act 1992, plea of guilt but no conviction for consideration of chance of employment. If the findings of guilt still can be disclosed in police check. It is contradicted with the main purpose of applying s12? No matter there is a conviction or not, history still show in police check. What point to have S12 applied in the case?
