Hi, Australian Road Rule 168 states that you may not park where a "No Parking" sign applies and shows various examples of permitted signs. Can an authority enforce this law and issue a parking infringement when there are no signs erected but they have painted "No Parking" on the ground instead?

This is in an airport car park.

Who owns and/or operates the car park?

Perth Airport PTY LTD own and operate the car park (staff car park). I know that they can issue and enforce parking infringements under the 'Control of on Airport Activities' legislation. What I'm trying to find out is if simply painting 'No Parking' on the ground without any other signs is sufficient or do they also have to install proper 'No Parking' signs to be able to enforce this?

You need to look at the road rules that apply to your infringement. A quick glance at RR 168 shows the allowed signage. If those signs are not present somewhere that applies to the area you are in, then the fine appears to be not valid. Remember they can have 'area' signage.

Take photos to back up your claim the signage is not according to the rules and you might win.
