So a police officer in my town has it in for me and has done for years, yet has never charged me with anything. Instead they tries to label me as a "drug dealer". He is always driving past my house, day and night and pointing his spotlight on my house.

He as pulled up across the street, wound his window down and proceeded to take photos of a friend of mine and myself while we were standing in my front yard. He constantly pulls me over in my car and strip searches me (roadside) and literally pulls my car apart, apparently looking for illegal drugs.

This has been going on for years now and with my daughter being in high school now and us living in a small town, she is hearing these stories of her parent being a drug dealer and it's affecting hers and my life dramatically.

What do I do?

Hi paulo83,

Make a formal complaint every time you get searched with no result. You can complain about harassment or searches without basis or bias.

Legislation requires the police to perform a certain amount of record keeping/investigating.

The amount of work required to deal with your complaints will eventually lead to someone telling this cop to stop.

And stop selling drugs?

I hope this helps

Regards

Is it one officer, or all of them in your town?

Next time they pull up outside your house, stand in the street (or better, in the front yard)
and take a picture with our phone.

Next time you are pulled over, record the search with your phone.
Stay silent, do not speak to the policeman.
Co-operate to the extent required, do not obstruct them.

Do not give them any reason to act against you
  • Always carry your licence. Keep it unsuspended.
  • Keep your car defect free
  • Produce your licence when asked to do so.
You will find that the hardest part about doing these things will be keeping your own mouth shut.

Thank you Tim, it's just the 1 male officer that seems to have it in for me. I have done everything you mentioned and have had no trouble keeping my mouth shut and giving them no reason to keep harassing me like this, as I am a single mother and live alone with my teenage (13-year-old) daughter.

It's beginning to get intimidating and becoming a real concern, thanks again Tim for your time and help
