I have shares in my name and want to know if I can sell them if my husband and I have separated but have not gone through a financial and property settlement?

Hi Sandy11,

I don't think there is anything that prevents you from doing that, the profits that you gain from the sale as opposed to the shares themselves will be taken into account in any settlement negotiations or court adjudication if that were to occur. As long as they are in your name only and you have the right to sell them.

Thanks, appreciate the help.
