Hi dears.

I came to Australia this year with a partner visa and already have applied for permanent residency. I have an overseas master degree in public management and over 3 years experience in an HR specialist position. Currently I want to apply for HR positions in Sydney.

Will they accept my overseas diploma and experience? Do I have a chance to get a job under employment law?

Thanks in advance

Hi Denice, it depends on what country you obtained your degree in. Some degrees are transferable to other countries however, some you would have to do further study to validate your qualifications here. In a job like HR, it may simply depend on the companies that you apply to and whether or not they feel your degrees and experience are relevant to what their job requires.

Yes you have a solid chance. Australian employers in HR especially in Sydney are familiar with overseas qualifications and international experience carries real weight. A Masters in public management is highly relevant to HR roles and three years as an HR specialist is exactly what hiring managers look for. Getting your overseas degree evaluated through a recognised body or checking resources like Diplomacompany.com can help strengthen your application. AHRI membership also helps signal credibility to local employers. Employment law wise your partner visa with permanent residency application gives you full work rights so no restrictions there.
