My mum passed away yesterday and did not list her personal items on her will for division. I thought they would be divided between my sister and I however it looks like it might not be.

Is there a way to stop her personal belongings such as paintings, furniture, nick knacks she has from being sold and have them divided between her kids instead?

What does the will say? Who is the executor? It is the responsibility of the executor/s to deal with property according to the will. Sometimes property might need to be sold to free up money for debts/ distribution of assets. It's hard to help without further information.

In any case, probate would not have been granted yet so it is early to be disposing of property.
