I have rented a unit from a real estate, the owner of which is different from the real estate. The real estate manages the place. Since i moved there were a number of issues that I had brought to their attention, some that were hazards and some that interfere with convenience. The ones that are hazardous have still not been attended to even after so many months after bringing them to their attention. Their answer is that they have brought it to the attention to the department which does the maintenance and they will get to me when they can. I don't think they are being honest.

My question is this.....can I leave and find a different place without them holding me responsible for the lease? Can the lease be cancelled on the grounds that the issues were not dealt with in time so I have to leave. Or do I have to just suck it in for a few more months and continue?

Would appreciate any advice.
