Is it legal for firms to insist on volunteer interns to work 9-hour days, 3 days a week, with no lunch, no coffee breaks and made to complete out of hours business? Also, paying for all transport costs including errands across town?

The intern in question has well and truly completed required hours, but needs to be signed off by the firm for University. Is this legal for firms to demand 6 months free labour before signing off an intern who is only obligated to complete 12 days internship?

If I were you, I'd be getting in touch with the Law Institute of Victoria.
Be prepared to name them and go into details.
