My husband is currently in jail (prison) and has asked me to get a copy (transcript) of the sentence that was passed down on him. He will not ask anyone inside for a copy. Where can I get a copy as I assume they are public record. I also live rural so unable to 'pop' into a city.

Hi waitingwife,
There is a difference between a transcript (that is, everything said in the court session) and a judgment (the judge's written decision).
  1. What court was your husband sentenced in?
  2. Was your husband represented in court by a lawyer or legal aid? If yes, have you contacted them for a copy?

It was in Brisbane District Court and he did have Legal Aid.

I think you have clarified it for me - I am after a judgment.

Thank you :)

I think you should consult a specialist in that case
