SA Estate If Partner Dies - Who Gets What?

My sister's partner has just been diagnosed with a terminal illness. What will happen to his estate if the house they have both been living in for twelve years is in his name only, and he has four adult children from a previous relationship?

It may depend on the terms of Your sisters Will and what it says as to the estates distribution.

If they have been living together for 12 years as a de facto couple your sister has similar rights to a wife in a marriage, particularly if she is dependent upon her partner. If he doesn't have a will, I would recommend he make one to avoid the fall out that could come from dying intestate.
