Civil or criminal?
Although almost all criminal convictions occur in open court,
and can therefore be observed first hand by the public,
and although all are entered into the court record,
most of them are never published.
It is common (although not a right) for (some) people involved in a case (such as victims)
to be told by the Prosecution what the ultimate outcome was.
Beyond that, the average person has no right or need to know.
For example, there is no duty on the court nor on the prosecution
to advise family members, employers, etc.
You'd need a good reason. What's yours?
