Hello,
I am a member of church registered under the Associations Incorporation Act and also registered with ACNC. The church stipulates in its constitution that in order to attend the General Body Meeting, members must confess to a priest. I have the following queries:
1) Can the church impose such a requirement to confess to attend its general body meeting?
2) Is it not a violation of Human Rights?
3) Would such a requirement in the constitution be legally valid under the Associations Incorporation Act and Regulations and fair trade?
Would appreciate a lawyers view in relation to the above plus any insights on this topic.
Thanks and regards,
Vivek
