Hi. My car is left at mechanic workshop and has a new dent. If they have a sign stating "NO RESPONSIBILITY TAKEN BUT ALL CARE TAKEN FOR DAMAGE TO VEHICLES ETC" . Does this affect my rights under Australian consumer law?

Hi,

Firstly, do you have evidence that the dent happened at the workshop? Did you take photos? Discuss with the manager? Write an email?
Has the mechanic acknowledged that the damage was done at the workshop?

Secondly, the mechanic may well be liable for the damage. I suggest you call Fair Trading Queensland and take this up with them. Contacting Fair Trading | Your rights, crime and the law | Queensland Government

That’s a really frustrating situation. If the damage happened while the car was under the mechanic’s care, there’s usually at least some expectation they take responsiblity or have insurance to cover it. Definitely keep photos, invoices, and all communication records.

Honestly, dealing with expensive repair drama like this is why a lot of people start looking for more stable Academic Jobs and University Jobs with predictable career pathways and benefits.

I’ve browsed Academic Jobs before for acadmic careers, lecturer positions, research openings, and university staff roles worldwide. There are actually heaps of opportunites globally if you’re open to exploring different paths.

Hope you’re able to get the repair costs sorted fairly.
