Hi. My car is left at mechanic workshop and has a new dent. If they have a sign stating "NO RESPONSIBILITY TAKEN BUT ALL CARE TAKEN FOR DAMAGE TO VEHICLES ETC" . Does this affect my rights under Australian consumer law?

Hi,

Firstly, do you have evidence that the dent happened at the workshop? Did you take photos? Discuss with the manager? Write an email?
Has the mechanic acknowledged that the damage was done at the workshop?

Secondly, the mechanic may well be liable for the damage. I suggest you call Fair Trading Queensland and take this up with them. Contacting Fair Trading | Your rights, crime and the law | Queensland Government
