Can a child (13 years old) legally live alone? The parent would come back to the child when they are not working (every 11 days). They would be completely financially supported by that parent and would have a way to get to school. Is this legal under family law?

As a teacher in NSW... If I got wind of a kid being alone for 11 days straight I'd be telling my boss. It is called mandatory notification of a child at risk.... I would expect Doc's to be knocking.

As a parent of a 13 yr old I can tell you a kid of that age doesn't have the emotional / intellectual capacity to deal with this.

While you're not likely to go to jail as per SCruff's comments, you are likely to have the child taken from the home as this is neglect.

Yeah I can't imagine child protection being at all supportive of that arrangement regardless of the legality.
