Is a parent legally able to kick their child out of the house before the age of 18, and stop paying for them in any way?

I know a parent who is planning to do this, and I want to make sure that it's legal under Family Law.

Thank you so much!

There's nothing that imposes an obligation on a parent to keep the child living with them until the age of majority, but there are laws that mean parents have responsibility for their children even when not in their care. Likewise, if a child chooses to leave the home before 18, the police will not force them back if they are around 16 or above.

Child support, however, remains payable until the child turns 18.

Thank you so much! I really needed that.
