Hello.

I just received a fine for not wearing a helmet for 71 dollars; would you believe it?

My question is, should I just pay it outright or go to court to settle? And, lastly, does this come with a Criminal Record, regardless of how the matter is settled, or could it be avoided under Traffic Law?

I would just pay it, as the hassle of taking it to court not worth it IMO.

Not a criminal matter.

Believe it or not it's the law. Agreeing with it is a different matter and I hate cycling with a helmet too, but not agreeing with the law is not a valid basis to contest a conviction under it.

Pay the fine.

No it is not a criminal penalty.

Wear a helmet next time. The rules are not there to inconvenience you but to protect you in this instance
