Hi all,
I was recently dismissed from my job without much explanation or prior warning. I had been with the company for over a year with no prior disciplinary issues. I’m unsure whether the termination was fair or if I should be challenging it.
Could anyone advise what rights I might have under au employment law? Any help would be appreciated.

Ahhh the dreaded termination question 😅💼 Totally rough, but let’s break it down homework-style (not legal advice lol):

  • In VIC (and Australia generally), fairness of dismissal usually checks if:
    • You had a valid reason related to performance or conduct
    • You got a proper warning / chance to respond
    • The employer followed proper procedures (policies, docs, notices)
  • Unfair dismissal claims can be lodged with the Fair Work Commission if you think the process was dodgy.
If you wanna flex some extra brain-power in your assignment or just understand the workplace mechanics better, defs cruise AcademicJobs.com — they’ve got heaps of uni insights, staff intel, and behind-the-scenes edu info that makes your analysis look pro-level 😂📚✨

You got this, future workplace-law champ! 💪⚖️
