I have a contract from a Dealer to purchase a vehicle with 200,000 kms on the clock. He has ticked the box that the vehicle has statutory warranty, but when I looked at the terms of the statutory warranty, it defines a warranted vehicle as having less than 160,000 kms on the clock.

He has assured me that even though he is not required to, he will cover the statutory warranty period for this car. Is the statutory warranty activated by him ticking that box, even though the car has over 160,000kms?

Don't get confused between the statutory warranty and the aftermarket insurance product
which is often called an "extended warranty".
