WA Property Settlement with Fiancée's Ex - Can Ex Claim Our Assets?

My Fiancée and I are planning on getting married in September but she still hasn't settled her finances with her ex-partner that she split up with 2.5 years ago.

If we get married, do my assets become a part of her pool when they do their division of property settlement under family law?

This comes down to whether or not she has a joint interest in any part of the property.

For example, if your partner contributed to your assets using funds that would have otherwise formed part of the joint asset pool (e.g. money earned from the sale of their car or house), then it may be considered as an inclusion.

I tend to verge on 'better safe than sorry' when it comes to remarrying while a settlement is still pending, but I would get legal advice to be sure.
