I am looking for help on my legal obligation to my neighbour.
My neighbour and I had an informal arrangement that he was going to store some of his household goods in my garage after he moved out of his property. In addition, he had been borrowing small sums of cash money from me over the last month. I asked him to return this money to me and he had promised to do so.
Since he has now moved into his new property, I asked him to first return the money to me and then remove his goods from my garage. I had set a date and time for him to do this but he became abusive and told me (verbally) that he wasn’t going to return the money and I could keep the goods.
What is my obligation under Property Law? Can I legally dispose of these goods?
