Hi,

I got a personal loan for me and my close friend last year. I got $13.000 for four years from the bank. I also shared $6.500 with my friend. She didn't sign any papers and she is still on a student visa. She paid for the first 11 months but stopped the payments the last 4 months.

I emailed to her, but she said "I do not have a job". She is working at the moment but still doesn't pay back her loan. We didn't sign any papers when I gave the money to her, but I sent the money to her from my bank account. She repaid the money through my bank account monthly before it stopped.

She still needs to pay three more years but I'm afraid she won't pay. She can also go back her country.

Could you please let me know if there is anything I can do?

Thank you so much.

You could try sending her a letter of demand for repayment of the money.
Thanks. Yes, I will try to send but what is the next step? I know she won't pay the loan. I just wondering if I go to court can they do anything? Because she is not permanent residents or Australian citizen.

Thank you
