Are the hours outside my employment contract "overtime" and should be paid as such?

I work in an aged care setting, mornings, afternoons and weekends.

QNU have informed me I should chase them, as any hours outside of what I am contracted are overtime and should be paid as such?

Thoughts?

Was only chasing some mispayments then got treated like crap, so I rang up the union and was told that they have been exploiting me as I'm pretty much a casual pool staff at cheap rates with no security to fall back on with my contract.

Overtime - Part-time employees:
Part-time employees get overtime rates if they work:
  • more than the maximum number of ordinary hours of work (per day or per week)
  • outside the spread of ordinary hours
  • more than their agreed hours.

Yes, you are also award covered ( either state or federal) which provides that you are entitled to be paid for those hours?

What is the approximate amount of overtime?
