What is the difference between a trial court and an appellate court?

Is a trial court those in which a case is first heard and it is decided whether the accused is guilty or not? And is an appellate court a court in which appeals are heard?

Also does trial judge merely just refer to a judge in a trial court and an appellate judge refers to a judge in an appellate court?

Thank you :)

Yes and yes.

A trial Court is where a matter is heard and determined in the first instance.

An appellate Court is where a matter can be heard on appeal.

Trial judge is the judge who hears the matter first in the trial Court.

Appellate judges hear matters on appeal.
