Hi

I am having trouble distinguishing between a policy issue and a law reform issue for Domestic and Family Violence law reform report.

The issue of breaches of ADVOs - is this a policy or law reform issue?

I am under the impression a policy is what the government intends on doing about something? Or their actions towards something?

Any help would be great or some examples.

Thank you.

Policy, in the legal sense, is the big picture legal view of a social/individual rights issue, and what you want to achieve using the legal system.

Law reform is about changing the law so the objectives of the policy can be achieved. Policy first, law reform (if needed) follows.
