Hi, during my studentship, I had a debt from my mobile phone bills and credit card bills in the UK which worth around GBP 3000. It is almost 2 years ago when I was an international student in England. As I am still a student in Australia, this money still can't be repayable for me. But I have an intention to repay these bills once I get a full-time job. Just wondering, does this debt in the UK will affect my way in getting Permanent Residency in Australia?

Note: I already started to receive emails from a debt collector to contact and complete the payment. And, I did not reply to any of these emails.

Looking forward to your reply
Many thanks

This is the wrong category for this question, however it is unlikely to pose a problem for you, although I would advise you to consult a migration agent or the department of immigration to confirm. Bankruptcy and credit issues are only usually a concern if it relates to a sponsor or if you were applying for a business-related visa.

Don't be intimidated by a debt collector. If you ever do repay it, go through the creditor themselves.
