Is there a limit as to how much cash a person can carry?

Hypothetically, if a pensioner was pulled over with 500k in their car, and they claimed to have found the money, would they be charged with anything under criminal law?

If there was no evidence of criminal activity, surely one could not be charged with proceeds of crime. Surely having an unlikely story and being poor does not prove the money came from crime or does the onus of proof lie with the money holder?

Theft by finding. And money taken back by the state.

The person would have to be convicted of a crime first before confiscation.
