I wanted to get some advice on changing the ownership of my house into a joint tenancy to include my wife. I've owned the house since 2004 and my wife has lived here with me in Queensland Australia since 2010. For some time now she has been requesting to become a joint owner but I'm still a bit cautious about handing over a half share to her. There is no mortgage on the house and we are in a stable marriage. As I am retiring age and she is a lot younger than me and working full-time and we have a young daughter she is naturally concerned about the house passing on to her on my death. I do acknowledge this would be right but what other aspects should I think about? I understand if she is a half owner then there is no need for Probate. What exactly would be the procedure to change everything?
