so I have been acting as an agent for a claimant of a case of Workers Insurance and what I do is make sure that his claim is being properly processed. His claim has already been accepted by EML so it was agreed between us that i would make sure that he receives his payment and every other expenses that he could claim.
I have worked on this for over 3 weeks, and on the third week, everything was paid out and i have checked everything. However, when i asked him to pay me (that i would get paid AFTER he receives his first income payment), a lawyer had sent me an email informing me that I cannot charge him and that they would be taking over.
So my questions are:
1. Is what i am doing illegal? I surely don't think so, i merely acted as an agent to help process his claim, and not in relation to a dispute.
2. Will I not be able to claim any payment that was agreed? We have signed a cost agreement.
This has never happened to me before. Everyone i helped before never did this.
