Hi, I work for a large company that announced it was closing one of it’s operations late last year. The only official documentation I have received states that my employment would be terminated at the end of March 2020 with a note at the end “to be confirmed at a later date”. Since then they have delayed the closure twice. I now have an opportunity of securing a role elsewhere but when I discussed this with my manager they indicated that I may not be entitled to my redundancy payment if I accept the position. My question is, do I have any legal grounds to challenge this? It seems unfair that they can continually change the closure date and force people to look for other work and then not payout the redundancies.
