Then yes.

You can file for a domestic violence order yourself through the local Court, or you can request the police to file on your behalf, but they tend to only file on a person's behalf if they have been immediately involved in some incident.

Information here: Domestic and family violence - Queensland Courts

Thank you, I thought so. Just wanted to make sure. Thank you for your help.

Hope this helps

Hello, can a grandmother put a Domestic Violence Order on Daughter's ex for fear of there well-being?

If you live in the Northside of Brisbane, go to Sandgate Magistrate court where they have people there who will advise and help you fill out a DVO or restraint order. If you live on the south side, Logan Magistrate.

If you are concerned about your Daughter and grandchild's safety but you yourself have not been subjective to any form of Domestic Violence - physical, mental, verbal, etc., yourself, you can ring the police, make a report and state to them your concerns and what has been occurring regarding your daughter and grandchild's safety. Give the address and phone number of your daughter and where abouts of your granddaughter.

Convince your daughter to place a Temp DVO and Restraining Order on her Ex.

If the ex has not directly, in any form, committed an act of Domestic Violence against you but you feel unsafe then obtain a restraining order for yourself. If your daughter and granddaughter are living with you and experiencing domestic violence, therefore, you too are exposed to this then you can place a DVO, restraint order for yourself and your daughter and grandchild if your daughter is not an adult.

You can, however, place your grandchild under your application as well as your daughter if they live with you. Otherwise, you will have to convince your daughter to place a DVO against her ex , have her place her daughter's name and yourself and anyone else who is subjected to the ex's domestic violence.

If your daughter has a disability, and you are her carer - you can place a DVO and a restraining order on behave of your daughter and grandchild, including yourself and any other family member.

If you are caring for your granddaughter and she is being subjected to domestic violence from your daughter's ex, you can fill out a domestic violence order including a restraining order including where / places the ex can not go near e,g school, your home, no lest than 500 meters near her or wherever she may go.

I do not know what age your granddaughter is. Nor whether she lives with you. Nor where your daughter lives, or if you are the carer of your daughter . Experiencing phone calls, exposed to domestic violence yourself personally.

But if not and you fear for your safety get a restraining order and if subject to any form of domestic violence yourself place a DVO and restraining order. If however, you are not the carer of your daughter or grandchild, they do not live with you, the ex does not have anything to do with you personally - you can immediately report domestic violence to police regarding your daughter and grand daughter. Equally, as if you heard a neighbour having a domestic situation.

If your daughter is an adult and your granddaughter is also an adult but you yourself are not experiencing domestic violence you can report it to police. Take your daughter and grandchild to magistrate court and support them to fill out either one of them.

If both are 18 and over to fill out Temp DVO and include your and other family members within the order plus a restraining order. If you live closer to the city, then go to Legal Aid or the magistrate court in Turbot Street to obtain forms and as distancing including advice to fill out forms.

Everyone should feel safe and not threatened. Talk to your daughter. If you have already but is too frighten then call the police as they themselves after speaking with you, your daughter and granddaughter will fill out and help with DVO orders including immediate restraining order even if your daughter is not prepared. Police will sum up the situation and it does not have to be the case of immediate danger but in the past month or recent. Otherwise, they will advise.

In QLD alone 1 in 3 women die from Domestic Violence. This doesn't included children and QLD has the highest rate in Australia regarding Domestic violence in the whole of Australia. Police are on high alert these days and take it extremely seriously
