VIC Multiple Driving Offences - How will It Affect Permanent Residency Application?

Hi there,
I was caught speeding and got my drivers licence suspended. I got caught another two times for driving while suspended and I need to go to the court hearing and pay a fine. My drivers licence will be suspended for another period of time which will be decided by the court.

I do know that there are two kinds of criminal records: 1/ a certificate issued by VicRoads listing driving record and 2/ information kept on the police Law Enforcement Assistance Program. According to this, which type of criminal record will I be issued and how will it affect my permanent residency application as I am planning to apply next year.

My understanding is that your recent traffic offences are included on your criminal record.

When you apply for permanent residency your criminal record will be checked and it may affect the assessment of your good character.

Thank you so much for your reply. Just another quick question. As I read on the Internet, for driving offence, they might issue a fine and licence suspension or the person committed the offence might go to jail. I have received a mail saying that I have to pay a fine and go to a court hearing and the court will decide how long my licence will be suspended. In this case, is prison still a possibility?

No problems.

It is my understanding that prison is towards the more extreme end of punishments.

I would suggest that by following the instructions of the court you would not get a prison sentence; fines and suspended licence would appear more appropriate in your case.
