2 part question:
1. If you lose your drivers licence for life does that mean LIFE or is it like jail term sentencing where its 25 years or similar?

2. And are you eligible, at some point, for an E licence if your drivers licence is suspended for life?

My licence was instantly suspended for drink driving. I do need my licence for work, I work in construction.
I have previously been convicted of driving with an alcohol volume in excess of .15 twice and have also been charged with refusing to provide breath for analysis. It is my understanding that this amounts to driving with alcohol volume in excess of .15 which would make it a third offence of this nature. Will it be mandatory for the magistrate to suspend my licence for life?

Hi Michael,

Am I correct in thinking that your most recent offence was refusing to do the preliminary breath test (when the Police pulled you over)? If so, did you go to the police station and have a blood or urine test?

What were the results of the blood or urine test? Have you been charged?

If you have had your licence disqualified twice before due to DUI and now you have refused the breathalyser, then yes, you are probably facing loss of licence for life. Given this is your third offence, you could be facing up to 18 months in custody as well.
