Hi,

I am from Sydney and I am working in a disability day care as a casual worker, and I have been working there almost 7 months. I am going to have my maternity leave and I told them that I wanted to come back, maybe in four or six months after having a delivery and they said, "Sorry, we can't hold your job because you are a casual employee".

I just want to add one thing - I joined this company with five others, and became permanent part-time employees, apart for myself, of course, because of my pregnancy. They didn't want me because I can only work less.

What are my employee rights, and what is the procedure to get this job back?

Thanks

The important question is why weren't you also made a permanent part time! If it is the pregnancy then that will make it a strong claim.
