Hi I am a New Zealander who moved to Australia to reside in March. I lived in the UK for two years and so earned a living there. I was trying to process my tax return to get some of my tax back from the time that I worked here (April to June) for the past financial year. I have read that you get taxed on your global income as an Australian tax resident which makes sense.

However, my question is, do you get taxed on your global income which you earned FROM the time that you became an Australian tax resident? i.e. for me April, meaning my UK income that I earned prior to arriving in Australia this tax year will not effect my tax free threshold or for your global income of the entire tax YTD if you are an Australian tax resident?

Thanks
