Hi there,

I'd like to know if it is possible to do a look up who is the legal owner of a particular house. The house is within a retirement village, so I am looking to find out the owner of the house itself and not the land, as I assume that the land title would be retained by the owners of the retirement village itself.

Is it possible to do this under property law? If so, how would I go about it?

Thank you.

Not necessarily, house/unit could be on its own title.

Check the lot boundaries here: SIX Maps

You could ask a neighbour.

When you say retirement village,
do you actually mean a "village"
of transportable homes?
Or a retirement village of bricks and mortar buildings?

I mean, something like this: 51/4320 Nelson Bay Road, Anna Bay, NSW 2316 - Unit for Sale #125968474 - realestate.com.au

I want to find out the name of the person who legally owns a particular house like the one I have linked to above. Asking the neighbours won't help because I am not trying to find the name of the house's occupant, I am trying to figure out who owns the house itself.

Have you knocked on the door of the house in which you are interested?

That place is not a retirement village.
Rather, it's a Residential Land Lease Community (formerly known as a Residential Park).
You may find that the operator of the park will have the details you want.

You may have some success with an Information Broker.
The solicitor assisting you in the purchase will have an account with one
(they are routinely used in title searches ec in property transactions).
The information is not available publicly.
