Hi there,

Yesterday, I was pulled over by an undercover police car. I was going down the road doing 64 in a 50 zone, he said, but the road had no 50-speed sign at all.

I am on good behaviour and if I get this fine I will lose my drivers licence. I want to know if it is worth taking to court because it was an unsigned road and I was going at a reasonable and sensible speed.

The default speed limit is 50km/h, and as such roads with default limits need not be signed.

Signs will be found on roads with higher/lower limits than 50km/h and/or if there is a change of the speed limit along a stretch a road.

Yes 50km/h is standard in built up areas. You can't argue there were no signs.
