My ex-wife's mother died ten years ago in N.Z.
At the time of her death, I understood she owned an enormous beach-side house, yet no application for probate was filed and the court has no record of any will.
I have just secured another document which said she left no will, not any assets that required a Grant of Administration. This all sounds pretty dodgy to me and I'm wondering if there is any way of seeing if she had any property without asking the family, who would probably say she didn't if they somehow managed to sell and divide it between them.
