When I met my former partner she already had a house in her name, fast forward a few years we get married & use the equity in her house to build a house which is in both our names.

Now we have recently separated & I’ve just found out that with using the equity in her house my name is now on both mortgages.

I’m only paying my half of the mortgage on the house we built together

Even though I am only paying my half on our house we built, but my name also being on her previous house we used for equity, am I entitled to the equity or even half of the other house if push comes to shove ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated !

Thank you

You may have a claim to some of the other house. But there are many factors that come into play, and the mortgage is only one.

If you can't negotiate a settlement with your wife then it will be best to see a lawyer and work through a formal property settlement.
