SA Lessee with Expired Lease Relocating - What are His Rights?

I sold my supermarket business approx 7 years ago and the lessee is paying rent monthly. He has just informed me that he will be building his own supermarket in the town and will be relocating. Is he within his rights to do so?

His original commercial lease has expired.

Yes, provided the term of the lease has expired, the lease should state what notice period each party needs to give in order to terminate it. As long as he complies with lease requirements to terminate then he can relocate.
