An individual flexibility agreement (IFA) is required to be included in all awards, enterprise agreements and other registered agreements and if they don't then the model clause from the Fair Work Regulations 2009 will be read into the document. It's a written agreement which changes the effect of a clause in their award or agreement to make alternative work arrangements to suit the needs of the employer and employee.

It can't be used by an employer to reduce or eliminate an employee’s entitlements, in fact, employers must ensure that their employee is better off overall with the IFA than without it compared to their award or registered agreement.

An IFA can very clauses about arrangements for working hours, overtime, penalties, allowances and leave loading.
