ok so without consent / court orders there is nothing stopping you from keeping the kids. But if mum takes it to court she'll likely get a recovery order. Besides, do you really want a world where the kids decide where they live and change their mind everytime it suits...

Apply to court for orders that specify when the kids spend time with you guys.
