Does an executor of a will have any legal authority to have a benefactor surrender proceeds of a will once it has been settled and the proceeds dispersed?

What is the timeline once the proceeds have been dispersed for a will to be challenged?

On what grounds is the executor asking the proceeds to be returned? Was the will found to be invalid? Was there a mistake in distribution?
