I am a joint executor of my Aunt's will with my cousin. My Aunt died recently and has left her estate to her nieces and nephews in a will she took out in December 2013. She has 2 children however, who were made wards of the state in the 1950s. I dont know if they were adopted. She has never wanted to acknowledge them or contact them. I wonder if they can claim a share or all of the estate and could go about contesting a will? Her estate is less than $200k.

Short answer is yes.
If you dont know where they are make sure give the full 6 or 12 months (depends on state) before you distribute.
If you know where they are let them know of the passing, if not do the normal notices in the paper.
