If a female was a rape victim (sexual assault) and she got pregnant, and if she can prove she got raped, does the father have any rights if the mother wants to put child up for adoption (adoption Australia)? Can his rights be removed under criminal law?

    Hi MiizzCarmen,

If a woman becomes pregnant she has no legal obligation to tell the man by whom she became pregnant, no matter what the circumstances. There is also no requirement that his name appear on the birth certificate. Therefore, I assume there would be no requirement for his consent to adoption if that's what the mother chooses.
