I was just wondering what the Australian consumer law is in regards to incorrect advertising signage in store.

The example occurred and I just wanted to know for next time:

There was a 50% off sale on a particular brand of cosmetics within a store. A particular mascara also had a signage associated with it that said it was free if you spend over $25, which I did. When I asked about it at the register the manager said it was an offer from the previous week so I could not have it for free.

So my question is if there is incorrect/outdated signage up does the store have to honour it (as this happens often)? What is the impact of there being another sale on at the same time applying to the same product?

If it is a simple mistake they are not obligated to sell it to you at that price.

Most stores will honour as a matter of good faith, but they own the product and they don't have to sell it at the incorrect advertised price if they don't want to.
