Hi.

I am currently creating a will, but have no relatives in Australia where I live. My closest younger relative is a nephew in the UK and I will be leaving most of my estate to him. Ideally, he would be my executor of will, but I have read that it would be very difficult for him to do that job remotely from the UK.

I have a younger friend here who is willing to help but I am very loathe to dump the ramifications of my death on her. Ideally, I would like her to be an on the spot helper for my nephew. I thought joint executors might be good but read that this could also prove difficult.

My other avenue is to appoint a solicitor to be the executor but I read that this could be very costly in comparison.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation or can anyone help?

The link seems to be about children and dependents and family provisions. This is not what my issues are about.

Works for me?
They can write and or administer your will.
Many have issues with using public trustees in all states as they tend to be slow and bureaucratic as you would expect from a government organization. But they normally get the job done eventually.

Thanks - I have had a chat with NSW Trustee - will keep them in mind - for an estate of circa 500K their charges would be circa 10K.
