Hi. What does wanted on virtue of a warrant mean? And does it stand in all states under criminal law or just the one issuing it?

It's old time language that means a warrant has been issued for the arrest of the person.

And yes, a person can be "arrested on an interstate warrant" (see s82 Service and Execution of Process Act 1992 (Cth))
